6-day VBS program sketch

VBS THEME: God’s Rescue Plan for Fallen Man
Core Texts: Genesis 1–3, Romans 3, 5 & 6, John 3, Ephesians 2, Revelation 20

Pre-Session: Introduction to God and His Word

Goal: Set the tone for the week and help children understand who God is and why the Bible is important.

  • Key Focus: God is the Creator, Holy, Just, and Loving. His Word is true and trustworthy.
  • Activities: Bible memory games, storytelling skits, introduction to daily themes through songs and visuals.

DAY 1: GOD CREATED MAN GOOD

Theme: Man’s original dignity and purpose
Main Ideas:

  • Man was created in God’s image—righteous, holy, and in relationship with God.
  • Sin was not part of God’s original creation.
    Texts: Genesis 1:26–31; Ecclesiastes 7:29
    Sample Activity: “Image of God” crafts, creation games

DAY 2: THE NATURE OF THE FALLEN MAN

Theme: Understanding sin and its effects
Main Ideas:

  • Man fell into sin by disobedience.
  • Sin affects every part of us—thoughts, words, and actions.
    Texts: Genesis 3; Romans 3:10–18
    Sample Activity: Heart comparison object lessons, memory verse skits

DAY 3: THE DESTINY OF THE FALLEN MAN

Theme: What sin leads to
Main Ideas:

  • Sin brings separation from God and eternal death.
  • Only those who receive God’s gift of life escape this judgment.
    Texts: Romans 6:23; John 3:36; Revelation 20:15
    Sample Activity: Two roads game: life vs. death

DAY 4: THE HOPE FOR THE FALLEN MAN

Theme: God’s rescue plan
Main Ideas:

  • God revealed Himself to us.
  • He loved us and sent His Son to save us.
    Texts: John 3:16; Romans 5:8
    Sample Activity: Cross crafts, storytelling on Jesus’ mission

DAY 5: HOW THIS HOPE IS RECEIVED

Theme: The only way to be saved
Main Ideas:

  • Salvation is by grace, through faith, in Christ alone.
  • Good works cannot save anyone.
    Texts: Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10
    Sample Activity: Grace gift box object lesson

DAY 6: THE RESULTS OF SALVATION

Theme: What happens to those who believe
Main Ideas:

  • Believers become God’s children and begin to live for Him.
  • Eternal life is the gift of God to His people.
    Texts: John 1:12; Romans 6:4
    Sample Activity: New life certificates, testimony sessions

BONUS DISCUSSION: What if someone rejects God’s salvation?
Text: John 3:18, 36
Main Idea: Those who reject God remain under judgment. God's love is offered now—today is the day of salvation.

  Summary: The Person and Work of God the Son (Jesus Christ) Jesus Christ, God the Son, is fully God and fully man— the God-Man . Hebrews 1:8 and John 1:1-14 affirm His eternal deity and incarnation.
